    kit (keep in touch) days

does everyone have the chance to do them? In theory they are an option for everyone on maternity leave, but it depends if your employer wants you to do them do you have to do them? No, they are not compulsory and should be agreed between you and your employer. You would also need to agree what...

Am I Entitled to anything else?! :(

His attitude stinks tbh - you're at home looking after his child and he needs to appreciate that. Would he rather pay for a stranger to look after his son than pay a bit more of your share while you aren't working?

    * Weaning Classes?? *

I went to one and it was just the one session. The reason they have them earlier is to make sure you're informed enough not to start too early with weaning. TBH it was okay, but I didn't learn anything new, mostly just how to spot they need weaning, what to introduce first and what foods to...

    send paperwork..............?

For surestart it's just the form itself plus the bit that gets signed off by your midwife or HV. For tax credits they don't need anything with the form and will ask specifically if they need anything else.

    moan from a health visitor!

I think people are more likely to mention their HV when they have had a bad experience, which is maybe why it might seem that people are negative about HVs. FWIW I don't have a bad word to say about my HV, and indeed the midwives who looked after me after my c-section as well as the infection I...

I think the key here is the words UP TO 12 hours. I see that as an absolute maximum not a challenge, and generally change Amelie when she first wakes up, after about 8 hours sleep usually. Is your baby nearer the top end of the size range her nappy is for? If she would fit in the next size up...

    death certificates

It's quite possible that if someone commits suicide but doesn't leave a note, an inquest can result in an accidental death verdict. To record suicide they have to be 100% sure that the person intended to kill themselves. Unfortunately I do know of a case where the suicide note was not handed...

    Kimbo...Or Anyone???

We won one in a raffle, but it was a bugger to blow up. You have to pinch the valve while you blow, but it only works if you pinch it in the right place. I think there were arrows on the outside to show you where to squeeze. I don't have it to hand at the moment to go and check though, as it's...

I have a problem with my plumbing!

Well I'd say sod em then - if you ask and they won't chip in then they will have to put up with no water if yours needs to go off.

I have a problem with my plumbing!

It's not just you inconveniencing them. Presumably if they need to turn their water off they are going to have to come knocking on your door. I'd say if they don't have their own stop valve, you'll all need to chip in to get it sorted.

SMA follow on milk recall (and gold cartons)

Noooo, they won't. I had one of the 1 litre cartons that got recalled (cost about £1.50 ish). They sent me two full cans of powder to make up for it (nearly 14 quids worth). It'll last us ages because we only use formula to top up. It's worth doing - they will just ask you for the batch...

PREGNANT MAN gives birth to a GIRL!

I agree that any loving parent(s) has/have the right to bring a child into the world. Some of you will already know that my partner is a woman, so my daughter has 2 loving mummies and no daddy. I can therefore understand some of what they are going through when people who have the 'Sun reader'...

PREGNANT MAN gives birth to a GIRL!

I'm sure that the 'life of misery' won't be caused by its mum being its dad, but will be caused by everyone knowing about it. If the parents hadn't publicised the whole thing then folk would just assume that mum is mum and dad is dad IYKWIM.

PREGNANT MAN gives birth to a GIRL!

I'm all for people who want to change gender etc, but this person has not had full gender reassignment surgery. 'He' has only been living as a man, i.e. dressing as one etc and hasn't had the down below bits done at all. If it were someone I knew I would accept them as a man at that point...

    cot question

We have a crib but thats because there isn't enough space in our bedroom for a cot. Once she's too big for that she will be in her cot in her own room. If we had the space we would have had the cot in our room from day one. We visited my family when she was 5 weeks old and slept in a cot for...

where were you when you'r waters broke???

Mine went in the hospital bed, just as the midwife was telling me they were sending me home as I wasn't making any progress. They went as I was starting to sit up to get off the bed after an internal.

    Theatre clothes in hospital

I just spoke to my OH, who said that the room at Preston was exactly the same with dirty clothes and shoes strewn everywhere. The only difference was that there was somewhere to wash hands.
