Hi, bit of a strange question but does anyone know if it's safe to use hair removal cream during pregnancy? I googled it and it looks like it might be ok. I spoke to my midwife about hair dye yesterday (she said it's fine as long as i dont drink it!!) but I forgot to ask about veet.

I think Veet is fine cos I remember reading threads about girls "veeting" their bits before going into labour. x

ive veeted so i hope its ok... is a shop bought hair dye ok to use then coz i havent done mine since finding out xxx

Ooh I "nair-ed" the other day without even thinking! Yeah it's fine to use as far as I know.

And home hair kits r also fine as far as I know, but I remember when I used to bleach my hair all over, and I stopped when I was preg as its bleach straight onto scalp, wasnt hundred percent sure if its safe so I turned to highlights, but it never went the right shade while I was preg! Hormones can really mess about and until after I'd had my little one I was stuck with yellow hair cuz it just wouldn't lift!

I'm a fake dark auburn now n putting off colouring until I really need to cuz I don't wana mess it up! Xx

It's not good to use home hair dyes unless they are herbal or have less PPD's/PPN's.

I ended up having mine done at the hair salon that specialises in herbal hair dyes, she wouldn;t do my normal blackpurple colour because of the above, you can highlight because it doesn't touch the scalp but not all over colour!!

Thanks guys, I feel happier about veet-ing now!

My midwife told me that hair dye is fine. She said if it was a major health concern, hairdressers wouldn't be allowed to work. She did day it's best to use ones that are ammonia-free, but thats because the smell can make you feel sick. I usually use Nutrisse so i'll just switch to a different brand with a similar shade.

I'm the same bright reddish colour at the moment, i'm going to try and get something a bit subtler in case it turns into a disaster!!

I use nutrisse too :) I had bright red hair at one point but was such hard work keeping it up, had to colour it every week! I'm now a light browny red colour, think its called maple syrup :) I so badly wana colour it again but I'm just leaving it as long as I can, picked one up in Tesco but put it back down again! Haha x I'm known for my different hair colours so it's hard keeping it just one colour for so long! Not gona risk experimenting though as I know it will go wrong!!! Xxx

I found the same with red, I went bright red first but because it was on top of blonde I was doing it every week. Then I had the clever idea of switching brands to a Live colour and it went almost black!! I was horrified, I washed it with Fairy liquid every day for a week to try to tone it down! Ive got it Mahogany now but i'm craving the bright red again!!!

I was 'live red' but as soon as I found out I was expecting I went and bought a herbal holland & barratt permanent hair dye in brown. Trying to get back to my natural colour so that when I'm big and pregnant and can't be bothered it doesn't really matter, ha xx
