Hello Ladies, I have come into this section for some pearls of wisdom!

I have been trying to concieve for around year and a half but with no luck. As the title syas I have a fertility specialist appointment on 1st June but not sure what to expect... let me give you some background info, any advice would be gratefully recieived.

I had the deppo injection for 6 months with terrible side affects including 4 stone weight gain. After consulation with the doctors it was decided I would not use this again. It took around a year for these side effects to get out my system.

I had 6 months of regualr periods before they started going crazy, I was having very short cycles around 12 days, including 6 days bleeding. I was also suffering really badly from hot flushes, dizziness and sickness. Initially doctors thoughts were menopause ( i was only 25) as part of this investigation the doctor ran a series of tests including 5 x FSH levels at CD3 and internal scan for PCOS. FSH levels were so extremely up and down and PCOS scan came back negative. ( i had previously had one of these when i was about 18, so this was my second scan). As my results didn't make sense i was reffered back to the specialist - by the time the appoinment had come through I had had 3 periods that lasted around 20 days so I was pretty much sent back to my doctor as the blood test they had completed showed by FSH levels as normal, I was told i was not menopausal as the periods would be getting short not longer and I was also told I should have now problems getting pregnant based as the bloods the specialist took.

Having been trying ever since but no luck - feeling pretty disheartened and having a new doctor I went back last month. Periods are now back to being regular at 26/27 days so I had my 21 day bloods done ( all was fine accept progesterone a little low at 18) and OH had sperm tested ( no problems here). We have now been reffered back to specialist but now not sure what to expect - we i have to go through all the same tests again?

Sorry for a long post!:oooo:

Sorry you have had such a rough ride

I would assume that they will approach your infertility from where you are now and not based on what you have been through previously.

So they would look at your situation in the same way that they would anyone with regular cycles, normal bloods and a normal semen result.

I think they have a 6 month limit on results, so anything you have had within 6 month they will not repeat unless they have reason to think it might indicate a problem. They might redo your cd21 blood because of your low progesterone but it's hard to say.

My initial diagnostics included cd5 bloods, cd 21 bloods, rubella, and STI smears so they might do any of those on the day.

I didn't get to see a fertility specialist until after i had been cleared for all of the above. By the time i saw a specialist, they were giving me an abdominal ultrasound.

I don't think they will bother doing anything further with your OH.

hi im 26 and have pcos i have had 4 internal scans to see how bad my condition is currently waiting to see my specialsit.......i have bloods tests every week through out my cycle as mine can go as long as 60 plus days so as you can imagine i look like i have track marks (no offence intended to any one) but i do get some funny looks........as with your hubby seeing as he came back normal they wont do anything further with him i hope this helps xx

Hi Hun,

Welcome to LTTC! :)

Short cycles are often as a result of low progesterone, and your result of 18 is not great, anything under 30 is considered not ovulating properly.

That said if you had your CD21 bloods on CD21 that might have been a bit late in your cycle, as they're only meant to be done on CD21 if you have a 28 day cycle, you're meant to have them 7 days before the end of you're average cycle, so you could try them on CD19 and see if you get a better result.

If you have short cycles as with long cycles clomid can help you, once your docs have decided there's nothing else wrong they'll probably try you on this.

Any Q's give me a shout...

xx

Thanks for all your wise words ladies. I haven't got long to wait but i'll keep you all posted. Had a very stange cycle this month.

The OPK has never gone dark to indicate ovualtion it has just been a light line now for 12 days as i started straight after AF so as not to miss it!? I am now on CD 17, my temps have taken a couple of dips and i hoped that meant ovualtion but the temp goes up a couple of days later then drops again.. Any ideas

OH thinks as its a strange cycle I must be pregnant but I think he is begining to loose the plot!
