anyone not going to antenatal classes?

Please dont judge me for it but is there any one not going for antenatal classes or nct classes, im having a hypno water home birth and i just feel that i will get angry if i go because it mentions pain and pain relief and one of the rules of hypnobirthing is that birth doesnt involve pain, i just feel like people are going to look down on me for not going. I have been a doula so its not like im clueless when it comes to labour but feel like people will still be looking down at me for not going to them xx

Hi, I don't think anyone can judge anyone else on birthing options. Personally I have gone to my classes and found them quite useful, but I know what you mean about them focusing on the pain. So I think your quite right to do what is best for you good luck!x

Balls to what people think Hun your decision. When I've been to see vbac specialist and had her opinion/recommendation I may look into hypnobirthing! Could be the only way I manage. xxx

everyone's preference is difference, I dont' like the idea of a water birth, some only like dry births or water. there's a lot of stuff on the internet u can mix and match

I am not going to NCT classes, but if they are running any hypnobirting events I'll see how costly they are and maybe go to them?

We're not doing any classes - sod what anyone thinks!
We did them with first pregnancy, OH managed one session and I managed 2 - we both found them quite useless?
And besides, having been a doulla yourself you are more than used to what goes on during labour. I wouldn't imagine there is much they would tell you that you dont already know?

We're not going to any. I have been thinking of going to aquanatal classes, but as I look so young I don't think I will for fear of being judged. I was talking with OH the other day, as I feel really guilty about not going to any so far because of what other people will think x

Im not going to the ones which relate to birthing as I am not having a natural birth. couldnt care less if people want to judge me - thats their opinion and everyone can have one. Its just a bit pointless to our journey! I put my trust into the surgeons and midwife and thats good enough for me.I am going to take my OH to the maternity hospital for a look round. I don't really need to see it as I hang about there often enough through work but he needs to be familiar.

I am going to Bump to Bump classes which focus on breastfeeding. Just skipping the antenatal classes which dont relate to me.

Sod what anyone else thinks xx

I'm not going to any either. I found them rather pointless 1st time round tbh!

I do plan on doing the hospital tour as its different from the one I had AJ in and I'm going to look into a breastfeeding class/talk too.

Why would you need to go to classes if you've already had a baby and you've been a doula? You could probably teach them!

I am going because I am interested in the parts where they show you how to care for your newborn baby as it is our first, I'm not fussed about the dealing with pain parts of the classes as I would rather just deal with that when the time comes. x

When should you start going to the classes? I don't know whether to go while in London or when I go back to NZ at 30 weeks. I need to go because I have never been around babies or young children ever I have zero experience!

your very lcuky if your offered classes on how t care for a newborn, this wasnt done in our area and also once i had baby i was left on my own to care for her whilst in hospital and again had no baby exeprience x
