help reading a test?

I plucked up the courage to test this evening. I had an old test (possibly bought in the USA) that said it expired in Sep 2008, but as we're only into October a little I used it anyway.

It turns out that I don't have the explanation guide or know the brand, and I don't know how to read it!

One side of the test says "C" and there's a clear pink line. The right side says T and there's nothing.

I assume "T" means "Test" and if there is no line then the thing is faulty.

Any thoughts? I really appreciate the help.

I have just answered my own question. "C" is "control" and there's a strong line, which means that the test is fine. The lack of another line means, it seems, that once again, I am not pregnant.
