I guess they could go Metformin route then to lose weight and see if your periods stabilise. But it takes 3-6 months to work sometimes.
Given all is good with the swimmers, you can try pushing Clomid route but of course its up to you two.

I've tried to research which is best but apparently for PCOS sufferers, a combination of the two is more effective, although I honestly don't have a clue. I just want something that works!
