Mrs last minute.com is finally actually thinking that this baby IS actually going to have to come out at some point and I AM going to go into labour sometime soon....am thinking of hiring a TENS machine (quick sharp!!).....any thoughts? Seen them for £19.95 ....are they useful? Easy to use? xx

Hey hun,
I've ordered one to rent and it'll arrive on the 15th. Sorry I can't answer if they're helpful but will be interested in any replies.
X

I'm going to hire one - I picked up the leaflet from the antenatal clinic at hospital. My MW said they are most useful in early labour and give you something to focus on. I'm going to give it a go and hope it eases any early cramping.

Xx

I would really recommend one, I used mine for the majority of my labour and didn't feel like I needed anything else, until I was told to lie on my back :faint: xx

I'm currently having same debate with myself, though I need to get a move on and make a decision! Where are they for that price? Cheapest I've seen is £35 x

You can rent them for really cheap, I got mine for free from the hospital, ring and enquire x

I've found 2 websites that are cheap and cheerful http://www.babytens.net/tens-machines and http://www.birthease.co.uk/birthease_shop/Elle-TENs-Machine-Hire.shtml

I think I'll order one tomorrow :) - glad I'm not the only one who leaves things to the last minute! They do next day delivery anyway if needed xx

Im going to ask at my doctor today if the hospital has them available as i borrowed one from there last time. If not ill have to think about renting one. It was well worth it last time even if just for earll labour.

And amandapanda dont worry about leaving it all till last minute I have too.. really need to get on with my hospital bag!

i used one when in labour with k and i loved it. it really helped . i borrowed mine from hospital when i went in labour. although the midwife yesterday did ask if i had one as it may help with the tightenings i was getting yesterday!! xx

You're welcome. Yeah I think I'll order from Birthease too and get a birthing ball while I'm at it...not to bring on earlier labour mind you, just to help with early labour pains, lol xx

We got to try them at our ante natal class last week and I defo plan on hiring one - the ones to hire through our Health Board cost £25 for 5 weeks.

Amanda it has just arrived! All systems gooooooo!!!!! xx

I had the Mamatens which has a boost button. I had the tens machine & gas & air & coped fine (apart from it being a really hot day & the pads kept slipping off & I kept electrocuting my hubby & midwife when they tried to stick them back on!)

I think I will get one. But, it seems to be better value to buy them. Esp if you are going to have another baby?

Let us know how you get on with it :)

Not long now!

xx

I used one in my first labour and thought it worked really well. Im hoping to hire on from the hospital this time around.

I considered buying one, but this one was pretty reasonable, only £22 for 7 weeks so thought I'd give it a try. Will let you know how it goes x
