Hello all,

I'm new here... been ttc for a good few months and no success yet.

I have a question about ovulation pains. I'm pretty regular and always feel when I ovulate (so I thought getting prego would be easy!) - I get sharp pains on one or both sides.

Last month I had pain for 2.5-3 days. But I was also bbt charting, and it seems I ovulated a day or so after the pains had gone. I got AF today (boo) which corresponds too.

Does anyone else get this pain, and do you know what it relates to - before, during, after ovulation? I am confused now! And want to try to get it right next month.

good luck & baby dust to all

Hi

You may be exeriecing this - Painful ovulation, when severe, is referred to as mittelschmerz, a German word that means “middle pain.” Most women who experience painful ovulation usually report a nagging pain that begins as a sharp twinge and diminishes into a dull ache for the next day or so. Mittelschmerz lasts for 6 to 8 hours in most women; however, occasionally it can last as long as twenty-four to forty-eight hours.
