Hi Ladies, firstly let me apologise for the long post - I need to get every thing down to get it clear in my head!

As some of you ladies know I decided to go private as I felt I was getting no where with the NHS. Well last monday I had a blood test to test AMH ( this gives an estimateof the remaining egg supply)

We went back today to talk through the options. Having tried for the last 18 months i expected them to say I was going to need help - i thought just clomid. Especially as I got my first lines on a opk this month. The doctor first of all went through all my previous blood tests results and OH results and took down our medical history. Having previously been referred only to be told there was nothing wrong this took a while!

We then got on to the AMH test, my levels were not decetable - basically i have premature ovarian failure. My levels were 0.07, to give you an idea these levels should ideally be around 30 - 60!

The doctor has talked us through the options either egg donation IVF or adoption.

As you can imagine I have come away with 1001 things running through my mind. My first concern is I was referred in 2009 with what they then thought was early menopause but sent away but a fertility specialist because my FHS LH levels were normal - what if i had complained alittle more? What if I had children younger? Would the NHS ever have found this out - seeing as they wanted to repeat all my bloods and scans the n i would have had to wait until january 2012 for a follow up.

I am only 26 now, the doctor thinks I will probally go thorugh the menopause by the end of the year. I have already noticed the hot flushes are getting worse, the cycles are getting longer etc.

I know some of you ladies are going through IVF, any using an egg donor? I have been given the option of finding my own donor - this will be much quicker but are there more complications with eggs from someone you know?!

Any thoughts will be gratefully apprieciated. I am suprisingly happy - at least I feel I finally have some answers.

hi hun first of all no need to appologise for the long post!!!!!!! second im sorry about your results
that sucks completely as for egg donation i dont know much at all im sorry i didnt want to read and run
i wanted to send you love and hugs xxxxxxxx

I'm really sorry babytreasure

I know you are probably feeling a lot of relief at getting some answers but you still have a lot of thinking to do and will need a lot of support.

I'm assuming i'm not really supposed to advertise other forums, but we are so limited in numbers here at the moment and fertilityfriends.co.uk is specifically aimed at people with fertility issues and it is very busy and i bet there are loads of women using donor egg who can help you with all your questions.

I don't see why it should be any more complicated using an egg from somone you know as they would give up any rights to the child and the proceedure would be the same, however, i personally would feel uncomfortable with my child having contact with the person that is their biological mother.

I believe that there is a natural bond that is difficult to anticipate.

I have read comments from women waiting on donor eggs and the list can be much shorter, the less specific that you are.

If you insist on a donor with your ethnic background, eye colour, hair colour, intellect, etc than you may have to wait much longer especially if you fall into an uncommon category such as having red hair or green eyes etc

There is no point playing the blame game because your situation couldn't have been foreseen. It's just really unfortunate.

I hope you are alright.

It's not the end

Hi i hope its ok that im posting in here. Im so sorry your going through this. As an egg doner i dont see those eggs as mine i gave them knowing a baby would be the end result for someone else.

Good luck for whatever option you choose x
