Im confused about whether i can take the remaider of my annual leave (13 days) before i go on annual leave. I contacted HR and was told that i need to accrew annual leave at a rate of 1.5 days per month. I was worried because i had taken 7 days at the begining of april which i hadnt yet accrewed. they said by july 1st (when ML begins) i would have accrewed 6.5 day and not to worry about the remaining half day. my questions are

* can i take the remaining 13 days before i begin ML and accrew the time while on ML (from speaking o other ppl it seems they are being allowed to do this so it is individual comamny policy)

* or do i have to accrew them during my ML (which means my manager shouldnt have authrised my 7 days AL surely?) and take them afterwards

I want to tackle HR about this but i want my facts straight before i do.

Hi TangerinDream

I posted about holiday entitlements in this forum a little while ago:-

http://www.pregnancyforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=28724

I was told I had to take ALL my entitlement before I started ML on 1st July. I've now agreed to take 4 weeks and get paid for 2 weeks (my total entitlement over a year is 6 weeks). That's just for 2007.

For 2008 any time that I'm off I'll be accruing holiday leave at a rate of 2.5 days per month. These I can take when I return to work.

Here's the link to the DTI page about maternity leave, your rights etc, you might find it helpful:-
