    Smear Test

In England, women are not offered a smear until the age of 25. In theory, you can't request one either and they can definitely refuse. This is the way the screening programme works in the UK. The reason is that that risk of cervical cancer is low and the chance of false positive at this age is...

Aww that sounds horrible - poor you! I haven't been buggy shopping yet, but it does seem very overwhelming and complicated. And that's just choosing! Then you have to work the damn things. Sounds like it became a metaphor for all your insecurities about motherhood (totally normal for first...

Hi ceebee Sorry you're feeling so low. I don't know what to suggest to make your feel better, do you have a specialist who could suggest something? I really don't think it's harming the baby, he's floating in his little bubble protected from the world. As Carnat says talking to him wouldn't...

please tell me I'm being paranoid!

When you go for your implant tomorrow they will ask if there is any chance you might be pregnant, and when you explain, they may well refuse to put it in. On the plus side they will probably sort the morning after pill for you.

How to deal with jealous friends?

If she's not showing any sign, then perhaps she doesn't feel the way you think. I know she's admitted that she's jealous, but that doesn't necessarily mean she feels bad every time you mention the pregnancy or baby. Can you talk to her about the way you are feeling? In terms of how to act, I...

calling your bump the name before brith . . .

I don't know whether I will use the name when we choose it, but I actually don't use 'bump' either and don't really like other people using it in reference to mine either. I call it 'the baby', which started weeks ago when I was using my relaxation CD which refers to the baby a lot.

When did you start to show?

I was showing (as in a fat tummy because normally mine is flattish) at about 10 weeks. At 14-15 weeks I looked like I'd out on loads of weight. Then about 2 weeks ago, it all pulled forwards into a bump.

    Consultant Appointment..

I wouldn't worry at this stage. As I said in my edit, I did some further research and it appears that some women do 'leak' some glucose into their urine during pregnancy, due to changes in the kidney filtration system. It doesn't necessarily mean diabetes. If they find glucose again...

    Bloody hv!!!!

Unfortunately, there have been a lot of cuts to the health visiting service recently. This has led to having to reduce the services to families who need less assistance. You should be able to access them if you need to, but a lot of the routine stuff is going.
